John the Baptist
Matthew 3:4
4 John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.
Matthew 3:4
“John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.”
John the Baptist didn’t exactly live a lavish ‘prosperity gospel preacher’ lifestyle. He would not make the Preachers in Sneakers list. Camel-hair tunic? Check. Leather belt? Check. Lunch menu: locusts and wild honey. Every. Single. Day.
And yet… that honey must have been something special. Because even John — the guy who ate bugs for breakfast — apparently couldn’t stop at just one. “No one can eat just one!” The cartoon gives us a chuckle at the very human side of this larger-than-life prophet. He was all-in for God’s mission, but he still had taste buds. And God used him powerfully anyway.
It’s a reminder: God doesn’t call perfect people. He calls willing ones — locust-munching, honey-loving, head-in-the-game willing ones.
