BIBLE STUDY cartoons to fight Bible Illiteracy
Studying our Bibles is foundational to knowing God, understanding our faith, and living it out. And so it goes without saying… IF you are a cartoonist, then Bible Study Cartoons must be pretty important too. Just sayin’
God speaks through His Word. The Bible is “God-breathed” (2 Timothy 3:16)—inspired by Him to guide, teach, and correct. Without it, you’re guessing about who God is or what He wants.
God’s Word keeps us grounded. Life’s messy—decisions, doubts, temptations—and the Bible’s a tether. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” This is practical wisdom, not just lofty ideas, helping us navigate right from wrong.
The Gospels tell the story of Jesus. Our Bible records the prophecy that He would come and then shares His story. His life, death, and resurrection are the core of our Christian faith. John 1:1 calls Him “the Word.” To read and study it connects us to Him, not just as history but as a living presence.
Read and Study our Bibles builds our faith. Romans 10:17 says, “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” For Christians, it’s not blind belief—scripture feeds it, giving reasons and stories to lean on.
Finally, to study our Bibles is a defense. Jesus quoted scripture to resist temptation (Matthew 4:1-11). In a world full of competing ideas, we use God’s Word to test what’s true—Ephesians 6:17 calls it “the sword of the Spirit.”
Too many ‘Dusty’ Bibles
Bible study is like any discipline; it takes a serious commitment. My physical health is maintained with a healthy diet and regular exercise. In the same way, if we are serious about our spiritual health, we must commit ourselves to prayer and to study God’s Word.
It is easy for our busy/distracted minds to find Bible study tedious. Even without wandering into Levitical laws, an Old Testament census, or those many begats, it is still easy to let my mind wander. Especially easy, as most of us have our smartphones loaded with social media calling our name with the latest 24/7 information blitz. But to realize that God’s Word is less about arduous rules and more about growing a relationship with the only true God. This is the greatest pursuit we should have in life.
KJV ONLY cartoons
THAT LEVITICUS LINE (mentioned above) -
This is what I have just now coined as that point in our annual attempts to read through our Bibles, but we become bogged down in the sometimes tedious collection of Old Testament Rules found in the book of Leviticus, and so we stop study… until the next year when we start all over again in Genesis.
I have been there and done that, but in recent years, I have come to appreciate God's provision of a structure for society to live by. While this structure may not fit one-to-one with our modern way of living, it is important to realize our loving Heavenly Father demonstrated His love by guiding His people with rules for a Healthy Society.
