HONESTY cartoons - Cross My Heart, but Hope ‘not’ to Die?

Honesty is the foundation for strong relationships — with God and with others.

These cartoons take a humorous look at truth-telling, little white lies, and the sometimes difficult choice to be honest. My prayer is that they make you smile while gently reminding us of the importance of integrity.

“The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.” Proverbs 12:22

  • Final Thought

Being honest can be uncomfortable in the moment, but it brings freedom and builds trust. As followers of Jesus — who called Himself “the Truth” — let’s strive to be people known for honesty and integrity.

    • Proverbs 12:22 - “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.”
Why: Straight-up contrast—God hates deceit, loves truth. It’s a moral gut check.

    • Ephesians 4:25 - “Therefore, each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.”
Why: Ties honesty to community. Lying messes with relationships; truth keeps them real.

    • John 8:32 - “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Why: Jesus’ words. Truth isn’t just about words—it’s liberating, spiritually and practically.

    • Proverbs 11:3 - “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.”
Why: Honesty as a compass; deceit as a trap. Simple cause-and-effect wisdom.

    • Colossians 3:9-10 - “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”
Why: Links honesty to transformation—living true is part of becoming who God made you to be.

    • Psalm 51:6 - “Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.”
Why: David’s plea after messing up. God’s been about truth from the start—deep stuff.

These verses stand out as they approach the issue of honesty from different angles: integrity, trust, and spiritual freedom. Lean on their truth regarding… truth. Honesty can be framed as both a command and a healthy way to live.
