The Love of Money

Christian Cartoon regarding the love of money

1 Timothy 6:10

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.

Paul did not say money is evil. He said loving it is the root. This man thinks he cleared the bar by refusing the word “love.” Nerves are a nicer word. Same grip.

A paycheck is a gift. A cushion is a mercy. Needing the cushion so your hands stop shaking is the thing Paul warned about. Contentment is the other medicine in that chapter, a few verses earlier. Godliness with contentment is great gain. Not godliness with a very calm checking account.

The smile is the tell. He is not confessing. He is explaining. Those are different.

What do you call it when money is not your love, but you are not quite yourself without it?
