Ushers’ Side Bet

Church Cartoon featuring ushers making side bets on giving

Matthew 6:3

When you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.

These two easily distracted/amused ushers have turned Sunday Giving into a sporting event. Left side vs. right side, fifty dollars on the spread. The offering is no longer a gift. It is a heat.

Of course, this kind of side game is absurd and has nothing to do with the heart of giving, and maybe these two distracted ushers should be placed on in-church suspension.

A full plate is not the win. A quiet plate can be. God is not checking which usher’s section came in heavier.

Whose giving do you notice, and whose do you never see?
