The Parable of the Baseball Talents

Christian cartoon parable of the talents told through baseball players — the slugger who wasted his talent is cast out

Matthew 25:14-30

“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them…” (Full parable continues through verse 30, ending with “throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”)

The Parable of Baseball Talents

It’s like a team owner signing three players: a five-tool prospect, a pitching phenom, and a utility guy (kinda a tool).

After two years, the “5-tool” player is MVP. The pitcher is Cy Young. But the “utility guy” spent his bonus on corn dogs & beer and never hit his own weight.

When they renegotiate, the MVP and Pitcher get multi-year big contracts. The “utility guy” is traded to the West Wichita AA team for 5 bags of diamond dust and a broken infield rake.

“Depart from me… you sluggard slugger — you’re not worth the price of the corn dogs you ate.” So he is cast into a trailer park where there was weeping and gnashing of teeth on Cheese Puffs.

Matthew 25:14-30 Jesus’ Parable of the Talents reminds us that God gives each of us different gifts and opportunities. The question is not how much we were given — but what we did with what we were given.
