Bible Illiteracy Crisis - Lazy & Distracted = Big Problem
Bible Illiteracy: Our #1 Problem
"The Bible makes no sense!" …says the guy holding it upside down.
Frankly, that's the crisis: lazy reading, distracted minds, zero engagement.
All other church issues roll downhill from here.
Open it right-side up. Read it. Wrestle with it. Let it speak.
This cartoon is a wake-up call: If Scripture feels confusing, start by actually reading it.
Bible Illiteracy Crisis – Lazy & Distracted = Big Problem
"Frankly, the Bible makes no sense."
He's holding it upside down. Verses scrambled. References backward. And he's confused.
This cartoon nails our #1 church problem IMO: Bible illiteracy. Not because the Bible is hard, but because we're lazy and distracted. We skim, we cherry-pick, we give up when it's "boring" or "confusing," and then blame the book.
But Scripture is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16). It's alive and active (Hebrews 4:12). It transforms when we actually engage it—right-side up, consistently, humbly.
The fix isn't smarter people or easier translations. It's disciplined, prayerful reading. Start small. Read a chapter. Ask the Spirit to help.
This cartoon is a funny mirror: if the Bible feels upside down, maybe we should flip it.
