I remember when I was a youngster (now I am old), teachers would grab a misbehaving kid by the collar or arm to settle things. Negotiations were not on the table.
Today in public schools, you would think a peace deal is being negotiated with a promising junior dictator whose “feelings” now rank even with the teacher’s authority.
Side note: the days of the old rap on the knuckles with a ruler will likely never return, unless… you have Lester Wilkey for 7th-grade math.
