School Prayer?… Awkward

School Cartoon of an awkward all inclusive School Prayer

Prayer in School?

Yes… Maybe… but not this one

There is an ongoing debate about whether schools should allow prayer. I believe it would be a great idea — BUT the problem is that there is only one true God, and our public school system often puts other faiths on an equal or higher plane than Christianity.

So until schools promote a Christian worldview, prayer in school will be cringy at best, in my opinion.

When a prayer tries to include everybody, it often ends up meaning nobody. The kids’ faces say what the announcement cannot: this is not worship. It is a roll call.

Scripture does not present God as one name on a list. “I am the Lord, and there is no other” (Isaiah 45:5) is a different kind of school prayer.
