Tight Pants – Matthew 5:37

Funny marriage cartoon of a woman asking “Are these pants too tight?” and man replying “Like a denim wood tick” – Matthew 5:37 honesty illustration

Matthew 5:37

37 All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

Matthew 5:37 “All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.”

Jesus kept it simple: Let your yes be yes, and your no be no. No need for fancy explanations, half-truths, or dancing around the question.

In this cartoon, a wife asks the classic loaded question: “Be honest… are these pants too tight? How do I look?” Husband’s honest (and hilarious) answer: “Like a denim wood tick.” Ouch… but at least it was a straight yes/no (with flair!).

The point? Honesty doesn’t have to be mean, but it does need to be clear. God values truthfulness — even when the question is risky and the pants are tight. Next time you’re tempted to soften, exaggerate, or dodge — remember Jesus’ words: Keep it yes or no. It’s freeing.

What’s the funniest (or most awkward) “yes or no” honesty moment you’ve had? SHARE BELOW — let’s laugh and learn together! 😂🙂
