Last Supper - What if?

Matthew 26:26-28

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”

Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

“Those little wafer-and-juice combo cups are a modern convenience many churches use (including the one I attend). There’s nothing wrong with them — they’re just not my personal favorite.”

“Of course, my cartoon brain immediately pictured Jesus handing those little cups to the disciples at the most solemn moment in church history. The contrast is almost too funny… and a little ridiculous.”

“Still, the real point remains: sharing communion with other believers is a sacred remembrance of what Jesus did for us.” May we do this in remembrance of Jesus.
