In the Light the Powers of Darkness Are Exposed

Cartoon of a red devil-like creature caught in a bright spotlight after a light switch is flipped, looking startled and exposed. Caption references Ephesians 5:13.

Ephesians 5:13

“But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible”

Most of us already know the verse.
“But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible” (Ephesians 5:13).

What we sometimes forget is how ordinary the exposure can feel. No dramatic showdown. No big confrontation. Just the light coming on.

In the cartoon the switch flips, the spotlight hits, and the powers of darkness suddenly look a lot less impressive. Darkness doesn’t do well under direct light.

That’s not just a truth about spiritual warfare. It’s a practical reminder for the rest of us. Secrets, half-truths, and the things we keep tucked in the corners of our lives tend to shrink when they’re brought into the open—especially when the open is the light of Christ.
