Honest Abe Meets Abraham

Christian cartoon Abraham Lincoln and Abraham in Heaven chatting

Awkward Questions in Heaven

Abe Lincoln: You slept with your wife’s maidservant?

Abraham: I was young and foolish, only 86 years old.

Two Abes. Only one of them was nicknamed Honest.

The other… was NOT

Genesis 16 is not a smooth chapter. Sarai is tired of waiting. Abram goes along. Hagar conceives. The house blows up. Abram is 86. Old enough to know better. Still young enough, he says here, to be foolish.

God had already promised a son. Impatience wrote a second plan. The promise still stands later. The mess still happens first.

Faith and a bad idea can live in the same tent. We have watched that in Genesis 12 too. Heaven does not erase the story. It does tell the truth about it.

Ever said yes to a workaround that was not the promise? Most likely not a maidservant tale. :) Tell us below. Keep it kind. Genesis 16 already has enough heat.
