Access to Heaven: Security Updates — John 14:6

Heaven cartoon where the roll is called up yonder

John 14:6:

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 10:9: I am the door.

Access denied — please include the color of your underwear.

I hate our modern world of security codes, passwords, and all the rules. So it is a great relief for people like me that this is not how the Pearly Gates work.

Ephesians 2:8–9: by grace, through faith — not a 64-character code you typed right.

Our church just finished a sermon series on Galatians. Paul chastised them for complicating salvation. They were teaching gospel-plus-rules. The gospel alone gives access to God.

Think of the thief on the cross. “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:42–43). No access code. No passing score in Bible theology. Only trust that Jesus would remember him.

The cartoon is every time we turn the gospel into a help-desk ticket. More rules. More characters. One more hoop. Jesus is not a password reset.

And no one will ask the color of your underwear.

What’s the silliest “password” you’ve heard for getting right with God? Tell us below.
