Gonna fly now?
The gap says otherwise.
Romans 3:23 is the short leap we all make: all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We cue the theme song, take a run at the cliff, and still come up waaaay short. Good effort is still not glory.
Romans 3:24 is the other side of the canyon. God makes us right by grace. Not by a longer jump. Not by a better soundtrack. Freely.
The picture is the fall. The hope is the gift. Don’t camp in the despair verse and don’t skip it either. We need both, or the jump looks heroic instead of helpless.
