Treasures in Heaven – Low-Interest Loan? (Matthew 6:19–20)
Matthew 6:19-20
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
Matthew 6:19-20 19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.”
Jesus said to lay up treasures in heaven — not on earth where everything eventually falls apart. In the cartoon, one guy takes it literally… and then immediately starts negotiating terms: “Dear God — since my treasures are in heaven… any chance of a low-interest advance? We’re family, right?”
It’s funny because it’s so human — we hear the promise, nod… then try to figure out how to cash it in early. But the real point is trust: God’s treasures don’t rust, get stolen, or depreciate. They’re safe, eternal, and growing — no loan needed. What “treasure” are you tempted to hoard on earth? Or what’s one way you’ve started storing up in heaven?
