Some waiting is a bladder. Some waiting is a life. Paul is talking about the second kind.
Endurance is not clenched teeth. Patience is not pretending you enjoy the hold music. Both are powered from the outside — “all power… his glorious might.” You don’t manufacture that in the waiting room. You receive it.
The joke is bathroom-honest. The verse is soul-honest. Getting older means more of both: the body that won’t wait, and the faith that must.
If you’re on hold today — doctor, grief, unanswered prayer — the prayer is not “make me tougher.” It’s “strengthen me with Your power so I can last, and last with patience.”
