Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.
But for Pastor Rob, raised hands were a peculiar sight.
Do You Have a Question?
Pastor Rob had never seen a raised hand that wasn’t a question.
So he did the polite thing. He called on it.
In the church he came from, hands stayed down. A hand in the air meant you were lost, you had a question, or you were responding to an Altar Call. Worship was quiet on purpose. Who knew some people lift a hand the way other people say amen.
A raised hand isn’t required. It is also not a disruption. Rob isn’t wrong to be startled, and in time he might learn to understand this, praising God with Psalm 134:2 in mind.
One body, many parts, and some parts are hands raised praising God. 1 Corinthians 12:12
What did a raised hand mean in the church where you grew up?
