Jesus is not issuing shop instructions. He is using a shock line: take sin that seriously. Kill the look. Don’t maim the face.
Steven missed the figure of speech. Don’t join him. If your eye gets you in trouble, look away. Get help. Confess. Change the path. The Lord is after a clean heart, not a trip to the workbench.
