Beautiful contradictions of near epic proportions are found everywhere, and as a cartoonist… I LIKE IT!
A perfect example is the GIECO commercial featuring a Sumo Wrestler Figure Skating, where this big, shirtless bruiser drifts across a frozen rink in his traditional diaper-like garb. The judges and audience look upon him with quiet awe. "A sumo wrestler figure skating? Surprising. What's not surprising? How much money you could save by switching to GEICO."

We are created in the image of God!
The creator of all things is also our personal and loving Heavenly Father. He is not a lesser deity indifferent to our lowly circumstances.

Spiritual Segue #2, God’s Surprising Love
We are all undeserving sinners (even us ‘good’ church folk), needing a savior
Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose from the grave for our sins as the Blood Atonement for our sins. Ponder the reality of Jesus willingly dying a brutal death for each of us.

In conclusion,
My Back Pew cartoons are often surprising and other times cringeworthy (like voodoo in the church). But…
I pray that you each find God’s perfect Love & Grace to be real, to be personal, and life-changing.
