Don’t be a Dull Ax?

Ecclesiastes 10:10

If the Ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, it takes more strength, but skill will bring success.

• and don’t listen to a back-talking tree.

This lumberjack is giving it everything he’s got. The tree is giving it everything it’s got.

“Please stop… I have a family.”

Note: If you hear a tree talking to you, you’ve got a bigger problem than a dull ax.

My dad was a logger (aka lumberjack), and I worked for him for about five years cutting down trees and doing all things lumberjack. Of course we used a chainsaw, but the same principle holds true:

“If the chain is dull and its edge unsharpened, it will make for a long day.”

The modern paraphrase of Ecclesiastes 10:10 could simply be… Work smarter, not harder.
