My bad-BACK PEW Update
I hope this email finds you all doing well, and your lives blessed and used by God.
UPDATE: On August 20, 2021 I had my first back surgery, and while it was successful over the following months I began suffering significant muscle and nerve issues. This was determined to be from pinched another pinched nerve and herniated disc requiring a second back surgery on April 22, 2022. During this surgery they discovered the herniated disc and pinched nerves were much worse than the MRI indicated. The Good News is.. the surgery was successful. but the complete healing process I believe is estimated to be 12-14 weeks and the nerves to heal could be much longer. There are no promises. I am thankful for doctors, prayers, family, friends and my church that are helping me during this time. It honestly has been discouraging, and while I know others suffer more than I ever will it still concerns me what the future holds. If the nerves affecting muscle functions do not heal it will alter my way of life. I am not borrowing trouble just being realistic. In a sermon recently at my church our pastor preached from Daniel where Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to serve the gods of Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 3:13-18
Furious with rage, Nebuchadnezzar summoned Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. ... and Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up? Now .. if you do not worship it, you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?”
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied .. “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and HE will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if HE does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” and as we know God did deliver Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego 
I know, I know.. I had back surgery and I am will not be thrown into a fiery furnace (and I prefer ice packs over heat anyways), and no one has threatened my faith, but I want to declare clearly my God is able to heal my back, and the nerves that control the muscles in body, BUT even if HE does not this cannot alter my worship of Him or deter me from serving Him.
Post-Op Notes: So with this bad-back drop to my situation I am thankful through pain and the healing process and it has been a major reason for my lack of activity working on both Back Pew cartoons and mutterings. Last week I napped often, this week I am up more but am cautious about my activities while doing more normal things. Moving low and slow like a 65 year old tortoise. Going forward I plan on being busy with sharing new cartoons and writings from my Back Pew Perspective. This all brings me to My Back Pew. Pray I am faithful with .. my unique calling to share Clean Humor and God’s Truth to a world that believes Crass is Clever, Profane is Provocative, and considers Christian Values as hate speech. From my Back Pew vantage point I seek that intersection between God's Glory, and Man's Folly via original cartoons and blog posts.. To God be the Gory in all things found here in the Back Pew. AND SO.. I continue to pray all who visit The Back Pew enjoy and find value in all content. Continue to use these cartoons and commentaries as a ministry resource, This is my purpose.
