SLIPPERS IN MY LIVING ROOM.. (BP Rerun)
I dont know quite how to explain todays topic.. OR if when I get done there will be any TRACE of a
spiritual message, BUT I need to share a slice of life from my day. First of all, though I am a cartoonist
I dont sit around ALL DAY coloring pictures like a first grader for his mommy. Ok, I do that quite a bit,

BUT.. my day is busy with a wide range of activities some related to the Back Pew, and others not.
You may have this image in your mind ( and not a pretty one ) of a middle-aged man sitting at his kitchen
table typing on the keyboard wearing popeye pajamas, an old tshirt, no socks, bed hair, drinking
coffee, and eating donuts. Well HA.. you would be wrong!! I am not eating donuts!!.. <pause> today but
the rest is painfully true. BUT I DIGRESS

While I am sitting here at my kitchen table plunking the keys of my laptop.. my dog Pepper is very busy.
She has many important jobs to complete.. and it is important that she stays on task. She does not flit away
her day watching TV, writing emails, or eating donuts. Her days are filled with the following two very important jobs. 1. To keep our yard free of squirrels, or as Pepper likes to call them.. Tree Demons, and 2. She, one by one moves our slippers from the upstairs bedrooms to the downstairs living room. As she comes down the stairs she will glance my way as if to say.. Cant stop now and chat.. Im a busy dog. Then she will deposit a single slipper or sock in the living room. She does not use them as chew toys.. she simply is impressed that these slipper and sock singles must be in the living room.

I never scold her for doing this because.. maybe she knows something I dont. Maybe I will go outside to get the paper one day, slip on ice, break my leg, and for the next 6 weeks be in a leg cast, unable to climb the stairs to my bedroom, all while my other foot is cold. This is when I the single slipper in the living room that was delivered by my dog Pepper would make my day. It would be a true BLESSING. <pause> Of course, it might be simpler and neater if she would just bring me the slipper when I need it.. but I dont want to tell her that and hurt her feelings.
