ANGER MANAGEMENT…
This is an interesting topic for a cartoonist. I can go with the traditional
count to 10
method of anger management. Or the Red-Green method of Anger Management.
The
very Biblical Don’t Let the Sun go down on your Anger.. but what
if you get mad in the
evening?? Hmmm.. I think I am missing the point of this Biblical truth.
Maybe the message
is to not hang on to our angry feelings. But what do I know.. I COLOR
FOR A LIVING.
Now the impression I believe that most people have of me is that I am
pretty happy, and
that I joke too much. Well, this is true except for the Dr. Jekyll aspect
of my personality..
but.. then there is the Mr. Hyde portion of my being. Ok, ok.. I don’t
go around killing
people in the night.. but I do lose my temper from time to time. Let me
site a few Mr.
Hyde/Larson moments.
- Cold food at a restaurant (excluding ice cream)
- Coaching Youth Sports:
- Playing Sports at my age. No Pain, No Gain? Well.. I HATE PAIN!
- Conflicts in the Work Place
- Parenting.. and Report Cards!!
- When I am right, and YOU are wrong!!
- Marriage tensions
- Financial snafus
- Tele-hasslers (rabid-telemarketers)
- Rush Hour Traffic
- Bad Customer Service
- Those with incorrect theologies (aka people who don’t agree with
me)
- The CBS, NBC, or ABC Evening BIASED news. – just say NO to the
major networks!
- Sadamm & Osama
- Jesse Jackson
- Bill O’Reilly
- Ted Kennedy
- Geraldo Rivera
- Presidents who stain their Interns dresses
- Loud Tele-Evangelists
- Election Year Politics
- REALITY TV
- SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS!!
- The LOS ANGELAS LAKERS!!
- Fair Weather SPORTS FANS
- and finally.. OTHER ANGRY PEOPLE make me mad.
hmmm.. maybe it would the shorter list would be one
of things/people that don’t make me mad.
Do realize, I do a little ‘Christian Embellishment’
here to make a point. Life is full of
stress and anxieties and when anger becomes my reaction.. LIFE CAN BLOW
UP IN
MY FACE. I can hurt relationships with family, and friends.. I injure
my own mental
and physical health.. and anything that resembled the Fruits of God’s
Spirit are
quickly blown away.
I am not sure even what the source of my anger is. Could
it sometimes be a defense
mechanism for my insecurities? I mean, how secure can I be in myself..again..
I COLOR
FOR A LIVING. Often I know it has been a counter punch when I feel wronged.
But why the need to counter punch? What a waste of energy. Been there,
done that
too often!!
So here are my self-imposed guidelines for a happy (anger free
life).. Lofty goals I
know, but they are my goals none the less, AND IF YOU DON’T LIKE
IT .. WELL..
WELL.. ahem.. that’s ok, and I respect your right to your own opinion.
*sigh*
1. Ephesians 4:26 Don’t let the Sun go down on
your anger. In other words, don’t
hang on to your anger… or it will consume your thoughts, and your
days. Don’t
be consumed by anger.. don’t revel in it.
2. Get my eyes off myself,, show compassion and understanding
and forgivness
like I wish to receive from God.
There are certainly many more valid points to ANGER MANAGEMENT than these
two.
But I am a cartoonist of very little brain (Pooh Bear like) so if I can
manage the above
two goals… I could root that CANCER from my life. Your prayers are
appreciated…
and if you don’t pray for me and I FIND OUT.. BOY WILL I BE MAD
THEN!!.. ok, bad
joke.

Have a great ANGER FREE day focused on God.. and blessed
with a heart of God’s.
Full of compassion, love, and peace.. and self control.. and plenty to
smile about, and
laugh about. And may the Mr. Hydes of this world be overcome by the love
of God
and the joys and good things of this life,
